Building Nutrition from the Ground Up

In Ethiopia, the CASCADE project is changing lives by improving nutrition for adolescents, mothers, infants, and young children. From shaping national guidelines to training health workers on the frontlines, CASCADE is working to ensure that quality nutrition services reach every corner of the country.
In the South Gondar Zone, change is happening in clinics and communities. Through Social Analysis and Action (SAA) groups, people are coming together to challenge long-held gender roles, share home responsibilities, and rethink fasting traditions that can harm women’s and children’s health.
Women like Enanye and Achash are leading the way, showing how equal partnerships and financial independence can transform not just their own lives but the well-being of their families. Community leaders like Priest Bogale are speaking out about the importance of maternal nutrition, helping shift mindsets and break taboos.
