CASCADE Uganda Policy Brief

Strengthening Nutrition Policy Implementation Through Community-Centered Approaches

Uganda has strong nutrition policies, but gaps in governance, data accessibility, and community participation hinder effective implementation. Without action, malnutrition will continue to affect vulnerable populations, particularly women and children. The CAtalyzing Strengthened policy aCtion for heAlthy Diets and resiliencE (CASCADE) Project is advocating for stronger local governance, data-driven decision-making, and sustainable nutrition investment to improve food security and health outcomes.

To address these challenges, CASCADE calls for:

  • Strengthening community-led nutrition governance by enhancing the capacity of local councils and leadership structures.
  • Enhancing data-driven policy implementation through standardized data collection and real-time monitoring.
  • Ensuring sustainable nutrition investment by securing long-term government funding and strengthening market linkages.
