Strengthening Nutrition Policies for Lasting Impact
In Benin, malnutrition and food insecurity remain key challenges, particularly for women and children. The CAtalyzing Strengthened policy aCtion for heAlthy Diets and resiliencE (CASCADE) Project is working to strengthen nutrition policies, improve multi-sectoral coordination, and expand community-led nutrition initiatives. By partnering with government institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector, CASCADE is enhancing nutrition planning and investment, supporting women’s leadership in nutrition advocacy, and promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices to improve food security.
CASCADE is actively supporting the integration of nutrition into national and municipal development plans, launching the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network in Benin, and strengthening the School Meals Program to improve children’s access to nutritious food. The project is also empowering farmers, caregivers, and local leaders through technical training, community dialogues, and inclusive decision-making processes to sustain nutrition improvements at all levels.
