Advancing Nutrition and Food Security

In Kenya, malnutrition and food insecurity remain significant challenges, particularly for women and children. The CAtalyzing Strengthened policy aCtion for heAlthy Diets and resiliencE (CASCADE) Project is actively working to strengthen nutrition policies, enhance multi-sectoral coordination, and promote food fortification. By partnering with national and county governments, private sector actors, and local communities, CASCADE is expanding access to nutritious foods, improving agricultural practices for small-scale farmers, and building resilience against economic and climate shocks.

CASCADE is supporting the implementation of Kenya’s first costed County Nutrition Action Plan in Nyandarua, integrating private sector engagement into the National Nutrition Action Plan (2023-2027), and advocating for stronger food safety and fortification policies in Nairobi County. The project continues to empower farmers, nutrition workers, and Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) members to improve food security and household nutrition.
