Advancing Food Security and Nutrition
In Mozambique, food insecurity and malnutrition remain critical challenges, particularly for women and children. The CAtalyzing Strengthened policy aCtion for heAlthy Diets and resiliencE (CASCADE) Project is strengthening food and nutrition policies, improving multi-sectoral coordination, and expanding food fortification efforts. By working with government agencies, private sector partners, and local communities, the project continues to enhance access to nutritious foods, promote agriculture-based nutrition, and build resilience to economic and climate shocks.
CASCADE has been instrumental in the approval of Mozambique’s Food and Nutrition Security Strategy (ESAN III, 2024-2030), revitalizing multi-sectoral committees, advancing food fortification, and integrating nutrition and financial inclusion initiatives to empower communities.
