Project Results Brief – Uganda

Improving Nutrition and Food Security in Uganda
In Uganda, malnutrition and food insecurity remain major challenges, particularly for women and children. The CAtalyzing Strengthened policy aCtion for heAlthy Diets and resiliencE (CASCADE) Project is working to improve nutrition governance, private-sector engagement, and community-led food security initiatives. By partnering with government institutions, civil society, and the private sector, CASCADE is strengthening nutrition policies and financing, enhancing access to nutritious foods, and addressing harmful gender norms related to food, agriculture, and nutrition.
CASCADE is actively supporting the adoption of nutrition actions in Uganda’s National Development Plan IV (2025-2030), strengthening District Nutrition Coordination Committees, and increasing the utilization of the Discretionary Development Equalization Grant (DDEG) for nutrition programming. The project is also scaling climate-smart agricultural practices, expanding the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network, and empowering communities through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) and farmer groups.
