Women and girls in emergencies
In times of crisis, when familial and community structures and institutions are disrupted or destroyed, gender norms may be impacted and gender inequality increased. The report Women and Girls in Emergencies looks at six areas, each of which impacts gender norms and women’s ability to survive, cope, and recover from natural disasters and conflicts.
Gender in Emergencies is CARE’s overall approach to working on gender equality in emergencies. This involved understanding and meeting the specific needs of women, men, boys, and girls while working in ways to contribute to gender equality.
